![]() In that sense, I find it to be an outdated or limiting model that also creates an unnecessary philosophical dilemma. For example, if you believe that past lives are wisdom-gleaning experiences and you suspect you somehow failed the last test which resulted in a present-day conflict, why not just accept the new iteration and take yourself off the hook for the last life version in the interest of the forward momentum offered to you by the same divine design? It’s a very different concept than, say, repeating first grade because you still aren’t comprehending the phonics you need to take on a second-grade vocabulary. Each life is, theoretically, a do-over from start to finish. When a person asks me why I don’t offer PLR sessions in my practice, I explain that the idea that our current or greater past is, or should be, the primary influence on our present is more congruent with being an unconscious co-creator of our present and future reality than it is being a conscious co-creator. I found it to be a fun exercise, on the whole, yet not nearly as powerful as work with archetypes has been for me. I’ve been a PLR participant, myself, while helping a colleague get their certification credits completed. I will also refer out if the person is seeking a PLR experience in attempt to validate some kind of ancestral history, satisfy a curiosity about the experience, or add past-life-themed narratives to a memoir they plan on writing. From that standpoint, I will always support giving the ol’ PLR a go. After all, as someone who prioritizes an Ericksonian approach, a client’s preconceived belief in the value of PLR to hold an answer for them is still a golden opportunity for utilization, a beautiful path of least-resistance for their desired outcome. In fact, when someone asks me to do a PLR session specifically because they believe that process will be their direct way to peace about something, I always tell them to go for it and refer them out to a hypnotist who specializes in that kind of work. ![]() My lack of enthusiasm for PLR, however, doesn’t mean I don’t see value in it. The experience unfolds as an immersive, creative, interactive integration of the most relevant archetypal dynamics in a more unified direction for a greater sense of ease in life. A client can expect to gain clarity and new, creative perspectives on their route to short and long-term goals and improve personal relationships with a newly-enhanced awareness of the advantages and limitations that accompany these particular internal influences. Like PLR, AWH involves a deep relaxation process, but instead of transporting the client to another life to experience emotional events of a past time, the AWH process involves interactive introductions to the deepest character profiles within their subconscious mind and working, in a lucid-dreamlike trance, with the most prominent archetypes in their archetribe to gain powerful insights on current life challenges. I can also do this with or without knowing all the hairy, scary details that might make up their present conflict. Instead, I can go straight to the issue's root which was always archetypal in nature and still provide a fun, creative and interactive experience that facilitates self-empowering, present-day conflict-resolution for the client, in addition to providing tools that are useful even into the future. The process is similar, in that they’re both interactive and deal with discovery experiences related to character and story, however, with AWH, I don’t have to accommodate any escape-the-present-day-conflict agenda a client might have by going through a back door deemed a past-life conflict. ![]() I’m one that doesn’t and it’s not for a lack of knowledge on how to conduct a PLR session as much as it is that I prefer a process I find more effective in a grander scope of change-work that I call Archetype Wisdom Hypnosis ™ (AWH). There are those hypnosis practitioners who specialize in Past Life Regression (PLR) and those who don’t.
